Keeping them peeled PCSO Carr has had his eagle eyes everywhere this set of shifts, he spotted a wanted male on Asda car park. His quick reaction soon had Police Officers putting this male in cuffs and recalled to serve 56days. He also spotted a suspicious looking man near the Police Station who drop a bag full of chocolates and ran off, PCSO Carr returned the stolen goods to the shop and recorded the theft. The male got away empty handed this time, but his face is remembered and we always Keep them peeled.
A Community Protection Notice come with the power of arrest and this week sees our Officers arresting a male for breaching his conditions. On this occasion the Court has issued a fine. A Community Protection Notice (CPN) is a legal tool in England and Wales used to stop individuals (aged 16+), businesses, or organizations from committing persistent, unreasonable anti-social behaviour that negatively impacts the local community's quality of life. Issued by Councils or Police, they require recipients to cease specific actions, perform required tasks, or take reasonable steps to rectify issues. Warning Requirement: Before a CPN is issued, the perpetrator must be given a written warning, allowing them to change their behaviour. This is a CPW. Breach Consequences: Non-compliance is a criminal offence. It can result in a fixed penalty notice (typically £100), a fine of up to £2,500 for individuals, or a fine of up to £20,000 for businesses.
The team have also been joined by Officers from the Safer Travel & WMP Drones teams this week, tackling local issues around Chelmsley Town Centre and the Bus Interchange. Officers have been working in plain clothes and vehicles whilst also switching up their shifts to cover the early hours. This has culminated in some great stops resulting in an illegal E-Bike being seized on Pike Drive after the offender made of from Officers. Class A Drugs being found on a male in Winchester Drive and cannabis retrieved from a young male on the Bus Interchange. These drug offences are being dealt with by way of Community Resolution, out of court, and offenders will be required to engage with SIAS, Solihull Integrated Addiction Services, for education programs and of course the drugs are seized and disposed of.
